X-ray inspection for the pharmaceutical industry

Dylog manufactures three different types of machines for the pharmaceutical industry:

Inspection machine for products in glass bottles with single or dual side point of view

The DYmond S Pharma is the most compact unit manufactured by Dylog for the inspection of glass or plastic bottles in the pharmaceutical industry.
Advanced design criteria mean that image definition is far greater than the industry standard, despite the low amount of energy required, with an increased performance in detecting contaminants.
Like all Dylog systems, the S Pharma unit can detect a wide range of foreign bodies, including glass, metal, stone and some types of high-density plastic.
The compact size of the S Pharma unit makes it ideal for installation on very crowded production lines or at sites with small spaces.
The DYmond S pharma conforms to CFR21 part 11, as it features software with a password and audit-trail managed security system.

Inspection machine for products in glass bottles with dual side point of view

A system which, although compact, can inspect products from two 90° points of view, for the utmost safety and reliability. The DYxim D Pharma can inspect every kind of glass or plastic bottle containing liquids, and freeze dried or powder products, with a detection probability close to 100%.
Thanks to the dual point of view (an exclusive Dylog patent), even contaminants positioned at the edges and on the bottom of bottles, and large but thin foreign bodies, that are not identified by the D Pharma, can be detected.

Turnkey systems

Dylog inspection machines with side point of view can be installed on existing lines or equipped with a complete turnkey system, to use the machine as a stand alone unit or as part of the production line. The system includes:

• a conveyor belt;
• one or more starwheel spacing devices to adapt to any type of bottle;
• a leaded cover kit to protect the operator from X-rays;
• a reject system with relative collection area.

Customised high-resolution inspection machines for special projects

With a view to continually improving performance, Dylog - using state-of-the-art X-ray inspection components - can develop customised systems for the high-resolution inspection of bottles, with multiple microfocus type X-ray systems (the compact focal spot means that more contrasted images can be obtained compared to normal X-ray tubes on standard machines) and 2 brilliance amplifiers instead of linear detectors.
As a result, glass contaminants in the range of 500 microns can be identified.

Dylog has recently conducted a feasibility study for the inspection of insulin syringes and pens.
The initial results, from tests conducted with microfocus X-ray sources and matrix detectors (flat panel) concern the possibility of identifying small fractures in pens/syringes.
